Privacy policy

How Commsfinder handles your data. Short version: it doesn't. Everything runs locally in your browser and nothing leaves your device.

Last updated July 22, 2025

Overview

Commsfinder is a browser extension that finds artists open for commissions across the social accounts you already follow. This policy explains exactly what it touches and what it never does.

The whole promise, in one line

Commsfinder does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All processing happens locally on your device, every time.

What it never does

  • Collect personal information
  • Track your browsing history
  • Send data to external servers
  • Use analytics or telemetry
  • Store social media credentials
  • Share data with third parties

What it does

  • Process every scan on your device
  • Store scan results in local storage
  • Read only the platforms you authorize
  • Run a local model for classification

Where data lives

Everything is kept locally in your browser through its storage API. Uninstall the extension and all of it is deleted for good.

  • Scan results and settings
  • Cached AI model, downloaded once
  • Your preferences

The only outside connections

Hugging Face

The custom classification model is downloaded once from Hugging Face's public model repository, then cached locally.

Social media platforms

Commsfinder reads only the platforms you have authorized (FurAffinity, Bluesky, with more coming) to gather public profile text.

Why each permission is needed

scriptingInject content scripts that read public profile text from the page.
tabsInteract with the social media tabs you are scanning.
storageSave scan results and settings locally.
unlimitedStorageCache the AI model so it only downloads once.
host_permissionsAccess the specific social platforms you enable.
